The Warracknabeal Arts Council presents a 4 day Art Exhibition
This year’s art show, hosted annually by the Warracknabeal Arts Council, will feature two artists.
Local artist Joan Goad from Brim, recently retired from teaching Art in local schools, she has been painting at the Horsham campus of Federation University since 2008, finding camaraderie and peer support from the many talented people in the studio there. Her work is intuitive and mainly abstract, concentrating on colour, line, form and texture. Joan prefers to work with acrylics, using vibrant colours and often features collages of peeled paint in heer work. Main themes have been abstract landscapes, still life, amorphous figures and non representational objects.
Artist Ron Penrose who has revived Harrow’s beautiful bakehouse building with his stunning portraiture gallery and studio. “Painting portraits is my passion,” Ron says. “I am inspired by Van Gogh, Dobell and Quilty. My Portraits are realistic and modernist; they portray character and energy and I work from life or a photograph.” Ron’s works include the 2014 portrait of Harrow’s Sound and Light Show cast, which hangs in the local hotel.
The State Library is also bringing a touring Art Show of copies and original paintings of children's book covers to Warracknabeal and will be shown in the Warracknabeal Library prior to Easter and moved into the Council Chambers for the Easter Weekend.
All work will be for sale and entrance is by gold coin donation.
Residents and visitors are invited to attend the Official Opening and Preview on Friday evening.
